A vacuum cleaner is considered a necessity of modern housekeeping. There are two types of vacuums: filter bag vacuum cleaners and cyclonic vacuum cleaners. Both work on the same principle of suction, but each uses different filtration systems.
Cyclonic vacuums are also called bagless vacuum cleaners. Instead of using a filter bag to trap the debris, it uses a canister. The motor of the vacuum cleaner creates a vortex or cyclone inside the canister, which brings in air and debris. The heavier debris particles are drawn to the outside walls and then dropped to the bottom of the canister. Once this takes place, clean air is circulated through the motor and released through the vacuum cleaner exhaust system. Under normal conditions, a cyclonic vacuum cleaner can save you a great deal of money because you do not have to purchase a vacuum cleaner bags.
Filter bags are a necessity for traditional vacuums. Using this system, the debris is sucked up from the floor into the filter bag which allows air to pass through it, separating the debris in the process. The vacuum cleaner bags are made out of layered paper that is statically charged to attract dust. They also have the ability to remove micro-pollutants from the air and normally trap up to 95 percent of the debris that passes through the vacuum cleaner filtration system. a downside of this method, however, is the price of the filter bags, which can cost up to $100 depending on how much filtration efficiency you want and the size of the vacuum bag itself.
High efficiency particulate air vacuum cleaners (or HEPA vacuums) have the highest level of operational efficiency because they use a filter that can remove particles up to .3 microns from exhaust air. These vacuum cleaners are available in a variety of different styles and are used when optimal indoor air quality is required. For individuals with severe allergy problems, using a HEPA vacuum is best for reducing indoor allergens up to 50 percent, but the filter is expensive and must be replaced often.
