diy should add a calculator to figure how much wood trim is required for trimming windows. it should take into account the most effecient way to cut the trim depending on the length of the trim pieces desired- i.e. using all 8 foot or 10 foot or 12 foot pieces

Not sure were to go for help. Our home was sided in Western Red Cedar and finished in Cabot's Factory Finish. Two loads of wood were delivered on different days for the job. The first load of siding is now discolored, very prone to mildew, dull and unattractive. The second load is vibrant, and beautiful like it should be. I have cleaned the house three times with limited success. Cabot refuses to take ownership of this problem as well as their sub contractor. What do I do? Total costs are approximately 25K

I am trying to get some ideas for decorating. I am renting to buy a contemporary home in a farm setting. My personal taste is oldfashioned farmhouse. Any suggestions on how to create this style, maybe with molding, paint, etc.? It is a barn-shaped house with skylights and a cathedral ceiling in the family room. I like an old farmhouse, but this is where I am right now . . .

Isn't there a way to cover an old fridge with a type of magnetic surface? I know that I read an ad not long ago regarding a way to cover up your old fridge, one that sets in our garage for drinks, without having to repaint or spend more money then the fridge is worth. It is just an eyesore cosmetically but runs great. Help!!!

I have a house that has a severe moisture problem. Water running down the walls and mold. Under the house and in the attic is dry. The heat is gas floor furnaces. The problem started when the weather turned cool at night 40's or so. I put a de-humidifier in there. That took care of the symptoms but not the cause. HELP

DIY, I watch almost every progam that DIY provides. I have gotten many great ideas from your projects and even have used some of themd on my old hoiuse. Today I was watching an episode of Man Cave and was especially interested. "Goose" and Jason built a "Man Cave" for a swim coach at what I think was Xavier H.S., not sure what city. I wanted to express thanks for providing such a great experience for one of the thousands of coaches who give of themselves at all levels of education. Yes I was one of those before retirement but it just makes an old coach feel good that programs such as yours does such wonderul things for all kinds of people. Thanks for all the greeat programs you offer and hopefully they will just keep on coming. Thanks! Ken Walker

Please yard crashers , come to Bonner Springs Kansas.Long story short, my husband and I raised 9 kids, and most being gone now, we remodeled the garage into a studio apartment that my oldest daughter and her husband and son live in, and downstairs, we made the basement where all the bedrooms were into a 3 bedroom apartment for another daughter and her husband and 2 children are living.due to the economy, it is just what had to happen for now.The problem is we really want to give them each a nice outdoor area outside each of their separate entrances. Money has run out for my husband and myself and like I said the kids for now are struggling as well so..... any way ,Help!!! love the show!!! Thanks Babs

On one of your "Cool Tools" shows they featured a garden stool I have not been able to find. Looks like a large upside down mushroom with an adjustable seat. One is able to set on it while working in the garden and it gives you the mobility to rock back and forth allowing you to work a larger area before you have to move the stool. Weeding, planting, etc. Please help me find the product. My wife has had knee replacement surgery and is unable to kneel in her garden. Thank you . Douglas Reed @ dandpfun@bellsouth.net

Inbetween the 2x4's I have 5/8 osb can I use a rigid foam insulation over the osb to bring it out flush with the 2x4 before installing the steel siding and not having to worry about moisture between steel siding that will rott the framing wood. I have a spanish style stucco house that I designed in ( here's the problem) Michigan. I can't for the life of me figure out what to do to landscape this place. Problem 1 is we cut into a hill to make it and the hill keeps crumbling down slowly. Problem 2 is that the hill ( although very prettyin the summer and fall ) is literally part of an old gravel pit making the soil behind our house pretty much stone and all soil in front pretty much sand. Problem 3 is that one third of the basement is walkout with balcony making for a very steep slope to the rest of the house. And last but not least problem 4. Is there really anything that we can plant to keep the southwestern spanish look going that is going to survive a michigan winter because Petunias and flowering pear trees just ain't doing it. I'd say were up ther on your all time worse nightmare list. Would love some ideas. mijanavarre @ sbcglobal.net

I am a general contractor in Oregon who has lost his business due to the economy. We bought a repo 1920 house which has a few projects that I have started and could not finish, with a yard that needs help. The neighbors have turned us into the city and it has brought my wife to tears. I have had to take a job that keeps me out of town for weeks at a time. I would like to nominate my wife to get some help. She is a pediatric nurse with two kids in different schools. Life has become very hard for her and it would be real nice for her to come home from work to something that does not stress her out or bring her to tears. Please consider coming to Oregon, there is alot more to this story. My wife has had a hard life. She started out life with a complete open heart surgery at three years old and now she has more scars from sergerys than I can count. She continually suffers from daily migraine head ache's. I feel like I have let her down, but I need to take this job to be able to make the payments on just the most important bills. We watch your shows all the time and it would be nice to see the same smile that you put on those peoples faces on hers. Thanks, rjnelsonconst@yahoo.com

I'm watching Amy attempt to do plumbing. You need to hire a plumber to show her how to do the work. She has no idea what it takes to install plumbing. have to say second time seeing "cool tools"..for an elderly single female living alone this is great..the tools are shown and the price so you know what to look for in the store and the manufacture name as well from now on have set my dail to cool tool .. now if you could just slow down and show how to build things ..know you only have a set time but talking fast leaves alot to be desired on other "DIY" shows , so far you have helped me cut down the cost of several repaires that I could and have done myself , but was told they would cost more and needed a professinal....thank you so much

I would like to see Amy Mathews back on during the week. Saturdays are when you work on home projects. During the week is when you need to get ideas so you can do them on the weekends. Please add some of her shows back on during the week. You could do the same with the kitcken shows too. Lynn Karr

We love your shows! My husband and myself along w/ our neighbors homes were recently built on a ridge in a new neighborhood. The problem, we have the 2nd Tennessee River developing behind just a few feet away from our decks. The crevice is getting deeper and the woods border beyond that. We have a great wildlife from the woods, however, it is ugly and we do not know what to do w/ our crevice, it is a must see, as we do not believe there is anything we can do w/ it. However, our landscaping and lawns in front are beautiful and so is our view of the mountains. We would love to hear your advice of what to prevent the second Tennessee River from further developing. Thanks for your time. d_shively@comcast.net Debra Shively, 423-468-4947 Chattanooga, TN
