Bedroom Paint

How to paint a bedroom

Painting your bedroom is one of the best ways to completely change the look and feel of the room, and it's relatively easy, too. But painting your bedroom is more than just slapping some color on the walls. It takes some thought and work to make your bedroom paint scheme work with the rest of your bedroom furnishings and your home overall. Here are some bedroom paint ideas to consider.

The first thing to keep in mind is your bedroom colors. Paint your walls a color that doesn't totally clash with the rest of your bedroom décor, unless of course you want an excuse to purchase new sheets, carpet, area rugs and wall decorations. If you do, paint your walls any color you like! If you want to keep your existing decorations, however, then select a paint color that matches.

Remember that painting your room a dark color will make the room darker, so if you don't have a lot of light or several windows in your bedroom, you may want to go with a light bedroom paint color.

One painting technique that has become very popular lately is to make an accent wall. An accent wall is a wall that's painted a different, though complementary, color than the other three walls. For example, a dark red wall makes a nice accent wall for a beige or tan color. This bold wall adds a splash of color to your bedroom paint scheme and allows you to create a brighter, more colorful room that adds more to your overall bedroom paint design.

Another bedroom paint concept is to texture the walls. Texture makes the walls look bumpy and rough, which you might think is exactly what you don't want. However, this 3D-like design makes your walls stand out a bit more than usual and can add a rustic look to your bedroom. However, it can make hanging things difficult, especially if you're using poster squares or double-sided tape. Neither of these works particularly well on textured walls.

Another bedroom paint idea is to paint your ceiling. You can either paint it the same color as the walls or turn it into the accent "wall" by painting it a different but complementary color.

All of these ideas can turn your bedroom from a nice-looking area into a room that really pops. While dull walls can provide a backdrop that's bland and not very exciting, walls with bright colors and colors that work with your decor will enhance your bedroom and make it look great!
